Yin Yoga is a grounded, deep, meditative floor based practice where we hold postures for 3-5 minutes. There are no standing, balancing, or inverted postures. We will have the support of blankets, blocks, and bolsters to aid us in being still in holding these Yin shapes. By doing this we approach natural edge(s) of sensation in the body not forcing or striving past them. This allows us to be present in experiencing what IS. In Yin we are relaxing the muscles and targeting the connective tissues, joints, and ligaments. This opens and creates space in the body while activating QI (prana) ; Allowing life force energy to flow freely and harmoniously as stress and tension in the body is released (especially in areas around the hips, spine, and pelvis). In finding stillness we may encounter raw and tender emotions. Soft music, poetry and candle light will guide us in finding acceptance and rest. Simply come nourish the Yin parts of your being, give yourself some love, and just be.
